Where to Pick Apples in and around Portland
Pick your own apples in and around Portland!
One great way to get your kids to eat more fruit -- and introduce them to the subtleties of sweet/tangy tastes -- is by taking them apple picking to a local orchard. Below are places to go and things to do for a great day of fall family fun in the orchard. If you know of a U-pick apple location that we have not included, please email KidsOutAndAbout.com's publisher, or, if YOU own the farm, click here for posting instructions (it's free)!
One last thing: If a grower does not have a web site or Facebook page listing hours, PLEASE call first to make sure they are open! (This is experience talking!)
Bell's OrchardHome of the U-Pick Friendly “Short Orchard”
A family-owned U-pick fruit orchard. Your source for Oregon’s finest peaches, apples, and pears. We also have honey from our own bees. We have introduced the “short orchard” to the Willamette valley. Come pick our amazing fruit with both feet firmly planted on the ground. No ladders are needed in our family friendly “short orchard”. The fruit is close enough to the ground that kids can help harvest. See the following pages for specific varieties and ripening schedules: peaches, pears, apples. (For 2021, season closing at the end of September due to weather conditions.)
