Performing Arts Summer Camp

Pivot is a creative movement studio in the Woodlawn neighborhood of NE Portland. Our Performing Arts summer camps provide students (rising into grades 1-5 in fall 2025) a safe, fun and joyful environment to move their bodies, discover their creativity, make friends, and build confidence. At Pivot, kids are the drivers of many of the artistic choices. We will sing and dance to the songs they like, dance moves will be created on the spot through their free, expressive movement, and acting will be explored through original skits and sketch comedy. We will do daily art projects, have fun with karaoke and lip syncing, play with hand puppets, dance under the disco ball, and generally have a ton of fun. At Pivot, the stage is nothing to be scared of, but rather, a super fun place for sharing. Weather permitting we will walk to Woodlawn Park daily for lunch and outdoor play. Each camp culminates with a performance for families on the final day of camp. Camps are held at the Village Ballroom - 704 NE Dekum Street. They are directed by Lauren Kawa Funk, led by Vivian Bell, and assisted by high school drama or dance students who are alumni campers. Pivot is more than just a movement space. It’s a heart pumping, soul invigorating, energy flowing, and feel good community that invites you to show up as you are, and just do you. All of our class offerings - for both kids and adults - are deeply rooted in music.
