A music course for ages 3–5
Introduction to Sound is an early childhood series in eight weekly sessions. This class gives children a new form of communication through the understanding of sound, while using music as a medium to solidify other learning topics such as counting, colors, mind-body connection, and emotion. Through aural, visual, and kinesthetic channels, we celebrate the differences in our brains and preferences. Classical music, as well as popular genres, are explored with the acknowledgment that many curricula of the past have often been culturally exclusive.
This course serves as a perfect preparation for formal private lessons (which are not recommended until ages 5 or 6), or simply the beginning of a life-long relationship with music. Based on brain science and taking elements from both the Orff Schulwerk and Kodály teaching philosophies, this course is intentionally designed and serves as one of the only non-corporate options of its kind.
