Authors Julie and Marie Showers will be reading Toby Finds a Home, a heartwarming children’s book about a stray cat who discovers friendship, food, and hope at a free café serving people experiencing homelessness. This engaging storytime is perfect for families looking to spark meaningful conversations about helping others. After the reading, children can explore ways to support their neighbors in need with simple, age-appropriate activities. All ages welcome!
Marie and Julie Showers are the authors of Toby Finds a Home. Julie works at Blanchet House, a nonprofit serving people experiencing homelessness, and Marie is a retired educator. Together, they wrote this story with students from Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) to teach kids about empathy, kindness, and helping others in their community.
Arrive at 10:00 a.m. to get a drink, snack, and seat. Storytime begins at 10:20 a.m.
