9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration – Resilience, Culture, and Community Preparedness

Join us for our 9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, where we honor freedom and resilience while embracing the power of community. This year, we're expanding our focus to include environmental justice and emergency preparedness, understanding that true freedom means thriving in all aspects of life. From financial stability to disaster readiness, we believe that being prepared is a form of empowerment, regardless of background or circumstance.

Bring your family and friends for a day filled with free activities, including face painting, caricature drawing, balloon twisting, and art kits. You'll also find local marketplace vendors and community resources, providing connections to support services and valuable information for navigating life's challenges.

Free Food for All (Suggested Donation Encouraged) But everyone eats!
Enjoy a variety of culturally relevant dishes that reflect the rich, diverse culinary traditions of our community. Plates will be filled with favorites like:

  • Fried chicken, pork spare ribs, catfish, brisket, and oxtails

  • Spaghetti, mac and cheese, baked beans, greens (some with meat, some without), fried cabbage, and green beans

  • Rice, potato salad, plantains, red beans and rice, and seafood gumbo

  • East African tibs, West African egusi, and an assortment of desserts like banana pudding, pineapple upside-down cake, and more

Suggested donations help us continue this critical work, ensuring we can provide these experiences for years to come, even without external funding.

Be sure to grab a program, which includes the run of the show, contact information for community partners, trivia to learn more about the history of Juneteenth, and practical tips for becoming more climate-conscious and prepared for any disaster. You'll also find stories behind the dishes we serve and the cultural significance they carry, connecting us to our shared history and collective strength.

Together, let's celebrate freedom, resilience, and the power of community.
